The Dover Tattoo - a 'Spectacular' event in a good cause...
The 2012 Dover Tattoo is also organised on a 'not for profit' basis, so that all proceeds go to service charities and local charities as well. A world-class programme of performers includes The Royal Signals White Helmet Motorcycle Display Team, The Flying Tigers Parachute Display Team and an array of military bands along with kukri knife dancing and fighting displays from the Royal Gurkha Rifles who will also demonstrate a full-scale assault on an ‘enemy base’. The show will culminate in a dramatic firework display set to music. Tattoo spokesman Don Soppitt said: “This is an incredibly exciting event and a much-needed boost for the people of Dover and the surrounding area. Ticket sales are going exceptionally well, with more than 1,500 already sold. If you intend to come, buy your ticket now or you risk missing an unparalleled opportunity”. The Friday evening performance (1st June) will be one of the first events to mark the Jubilee weekend and offers media outlets the chance to obtain early pictures and copy.
On Saturday there will be a special Family Day, prior to the evening tattoo, looking behind the scenes of the event, discovering what life is like in the military today and travelling back in time to Roman and Napoleonic eras with exciting re-enactments and themed events, interactive and static displays. There will be opportunities for local organisations and charity displays, with memorabilia and refreshment stalls.
