The gauntlet has once again been thrown down to golfers to conquer the UK’s toughest charity golfing challenge – celebrating the longest day of the year by playing from sun up to sun down, teeing off at about 4am.
On 21 June the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign’s Four Course Classic event, backed by golfers Darren Clarke and Sam Torrance and golf-lover, Michael Vaughan, will see teams of four players from across the UK take on four courses, playing 72 holes in the 16 hours of daylight.
The highest fundraising team will be whisked away on a seven-night stay at the 5* Intercontinental Aphrodite Hills Hotel in Cyprus, courtesy of Thomson Holidays, which houses its own 18-hole golf course. A host of other prizes are up for grabs for top fundraising and scoring teams, including golfing breaks, golfing kit and one-off merchandise.
The Four Course Classic is now in its fifth year, going from strength to strength, and in 2013 it’s going to be even bigger. There are more than 400 great courses to choose from, including some of the finest in the country such as Celtic Manor and Fairmont St Andrews, and some fantastic prizes to be won. The target for 2013 is to raise £50,000 to help in the fight against muscle disease!

| Sam Torrance: '72 holes is an epic challenge that everyone should try once' |
Sam Torrance said: “Playing 72 holes between sun up and sun down is an epic challenge for any golfer – and one that everyone should try once! Knowing that every penny you raise will make a difference to thousands of families living with muscle-wasting conditions is a great incentive to get you through.”
All proceeds from the event will help the charity fund its work developing treatments for muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions and supporting the 70,000 people in the UK who are affected.
Visit www.fourcourseclassic.co.uk to sign up and select your chosen courses or call 020 7803 4824. Standard registration fee is just £25 per player or £100 per team of 4, which includes a comprehensive fundraising and preparation pack, the four complimentary tee times and a Four Course Classic polo shirt for each player. Teams are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £250 per player.

About the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign

| Sam Torrance |
• More than 70,000 children and adults in the UK have muscular dystrophy or a related neuromuscular condition. A further 350,000 people are affected indirectly as family, friends or carers.
• Muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions cause muscles to waste and weaken over time making it increasingly hard for those affected to do even the simplest of tasks. The conditions don’t just affect the muscles in the arms and legs, but may also affect the heart and respiratory muscles. There are no treatments or cures.
The Campaign's work has five main focuses:
• Funding world-class research to find effective treatments and cures;
• Providing practical information, advice and emotional support for individuals with muscle-wasting conditions, their carers and families;
• Campaigning to bring about change and raise awareness of muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions;
• Awarding grants towards the cost of specialist equipment, such as powered wheelchairs;
• Providing specialist education and development for health professionals.
