As an avid golfer, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting places to play. While I’ve enjoyed the well-known courses, I find myself craving the thrill of discovering hidden gems—those lesser-known links that offer unique challenges and breathtaking views.
What Are Hidden Links?
Hidden links refer to golf courses that may not be on everyone’s radar. These courses often boast incredible landscapes, unique designs, and an atmosphere that feels more intimate compared to popular resorts. They can be hidden in plain sight or tucked away in remote locations, often providing an opportunity for a memorable round without the crowds.
What I’m Looking For
I’m reaching out to the community for feedback and reviews on any hidden gems you’ve discovered. Here are a few points to consider when sharing your experiences:
Course Quality: How does the course hold up in terms of maintenance and layout?
Amenities: Are there any notable amenities that enhance the experience?
Challenges: What unique challenges does the course present for golfers?
Scenery: How does the natural landscape contribute to the golfing experience?
Accessibility: Is it easy to get to, and are there any restrictions?
A Few Places I’ve Heard About
I’ve come across a few names that seem to pop up in conversations about hidden links:
Sand Hollow Golf Course in Utah
The Golf Club at Bear Dance in Colorado
Whistling Straits in Wisconsin (though it’s gaining more fame)
Your Thoughts?
Have any of you played at such courses? If so, what did you think? Any others I should consider? Feel free to share your insights and experiences here. I’m excited to hear your recommendations and perhaps plan my next golfing adventure!
One hidden gem I discovered is the Stone Ridge Golf Club. The course offers stunning views of the mountains and has a really unique layout that forces you to think strategically on every hole.
Stone Ridge is great! I also recommend checking out Pine Hollow Golf Course. The scenery is breathtaking, and it’s not overly crowded, which makes for a relaxing day of golf.
I totally agree with you both! Another great course is the Emerald Lakes Golf Club. The layout is challenging, with water hazards that really test your skills. I found it to be much more rewarding than the mainstream options.
Have you guys played at Maple Ridge? It’s a bit off the beaten path, but the sunsets from the 18th hole are unbelievable! Plus, the course has a unique flow that keeps you engaged throughout your round.
I’ve played there before, and hole 12 can be a nightmare! It’s a par 3 but requires a precise shot over water. It’ll make or break your round if the wind picks up!
On the topic of challenges, how about the Quarry Golf Course? The terrain is rugged, and the views are like something out of a postcard. Just make sure to bring plenty of balls!
You know, this is turning into quite the list of hidden gems! I think we should add Green Brook Golf Club to that list. Not too many people know about it, and it has some of the most unique green designs I’ve seen.
I love the idea of peace on the course! Does anyone have recommendations for hidden courses that also have great amenities? Sometimes I want a full-day experience, not just golf.
Yes, amenities are key! I recently played at Coral Springs Golf Club, and they have a fantastic restaurant on site. After a round, it’s nice to relax with some good food and drinks.
Coral Springs is a solid choice! Haha, funny enough, I once got caught in a rainstorm there and ended up playing the final holes with a wet glove. Quite the experience!
One time at Fairway Heights, I misread a putt and ended up three-putting from two feet! My buddies still tease me about it! Golf can be so humbling, can’t it?
So true, arthur02! Golf has a funny way of teaching patience. But it’s also what makes finding these hidden gems so rewarding. Each course has its own story to tell!
I’m still on the hunt for great hidden links courses too! Anyone played at a place that really challenged your game? I’d love to hear about the difficulty levels and unique features!
Check out the Hidden Links in Sandwich! The views are stunning, and the layout offers a true test for any golfer. Just be prepared for some tricky wind conditions!
I’ve played Hidden Pines recently. The amenities are basic, but it has a serene atmosphere and great greens. It’s more about the experience than luxury!
