Planning a golf vacation in California? Need some advice!

Hi everyone! I’m looking to plan a golf vacation in California this summer and could use some advice. I’m new to planning golf trips, so I’m not sure where to start. What are some of the best golf destinations in California that offer a great overall experience? I’m hoping to find a place with challenging but enjoyable courses, nice accommodations, and maybe some other activities or sights to check out as well. My budget is around $2,000 for a 4-5 day trip. Any recommendations on specific courses, resorts, or itineraries would be greatly appreciated. I want to make the most of my time and money, so any tips on planning a fantastic golf vacation in California would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for your insights!

If you’re looking for some of the most picturesque and top-rated golf courses in California, I’d recommend checking out Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and Kapalua Plantation Course. These courses offer stunning ocean views and challenging layouts.

Pebble Beach is definitely one of the must-play courses in California. The views are breathtaking, and the course itself is challenging but fair. Just be prepared for the high green fees!

Those are all excellent choices. Have you considered Torrey Pines as well? It’s another stunning course with incredible views of the Pacific.

I agree, Torrey Pines is a fantastic option. The North and South courses offer different challenges and experiences. It’s definitely a bucket-list course for any serious golfer visiting California.

What about the Coachella Valley area? Courses like PGA West and Indian Wells Golf Resort are supposed to be really nice. And the weather is usually great for golfing year-round.

I’ve heard great things about PGA West, especially the Stadium Course. Definitely a bucket-list course for anyone looking to challenge their skills. And the Coachella Valley is an awesome location for a golf trip.

Has anyone played at Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Beach? I’ve heard the views of the Pacific Ocean are incredible. Might be a good option to consider as well.

Yes, I’ve played there and the views are truly stunning! The course is also in fantastic condition. Definitely worth considering for a California golf trip.

I’m curious, what are your thoughts on the difficulty level of these courses? I’m an avid golfer but not an expert, so I want to make sure I pick something challenging but not too punishing.

Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines are definitely on the more challenging side, but Coachella Valley courses like PGA West are a bit more forgiving for higher handicappers. Pelican Hill is in the middle - beautiful but still a good test of your skills.

I’ve played a few of these courses, and I’d say the key is to pick a mix. Do one or two of the super challenging ones like Pebble Beach, then balance it out with a more approachable course. That way you can really enjoy the whole experience.

For an unforgettable California golf vacation, you can’t go wrong with a mix of Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, and PGA West. Just make sure to pack your A-game and your camera! :man_golfing::camera:

I was just at Pebble Beach a few months ago, and I have to say - the hype is real! The course is in impeccable condition and the views are simply breathtaking. Definitely worth the splurge for a true bucket-list experience.

I’ve heard the same thing about Pebble Beach. Seems like the perfect course to anchor a California golf trip. Now I just need to start saving up for those greens fees!

Definitely check out the Pebble Beach Golf Links on the Monterey Peninsula - it’s a bucket list course for many golfers. Gorgeous ocean views and a true test of your skills.

Absolutely, Pebble Beach is a must-play! I’d also recommend looking into some of the other amazing courses in the Monterey area like Spyglass Hill and Spanish Bay.

Don’t forget to leave room in your itinerary for some non-golfing activities. The California coast has so much to offer - from wine tasting to hiking to exploring charming seaside towns.
