Best Pubs in St Andrews for Golfers?

I’ve been hitting the golf courses around St Andrews and I’m on the lookout for the best pubs in the area to unwind after a round. If anyone has recommendations, I would love to hear your thoughts! Here are a few things I’m looking for:

What Makes a Great Pub for Golfers?

  • Atmosphere: I’m hoping to find places that have a laid-back vibe where you can share a round with fellow golfers.
  • Golf-Themed Decor: It would be awesome to find pubs that showcase some golf memorabilia or might even be dedicated to famous golfers.
  • Live Golf Events: It would be great if the pubs regularly show major tournaments; I love catching the action live with other fans!
  • Comfortable Seating: After a long day on the course, I appreciate a pub where I can kick back and relax.
  • Good Food and Drink: Solid food options and a nice drink selection are a must – it’s all about the full experience!

Local Gems

If you have any favorites or hidden gems that fit the bill, please share! Looking forward to your suggestions and tips about the local pub scene. Cheers to relaxing after a great day of golf!

If you’re looking for a great pub with a golf vibe, check out The Old Course Hotel’s bar. It’s filled with golf memorabilia and you can often overhear some amazing golf stories from fellow patrons.

I agree! The atmosphere there is unmatched. Also, don’t miss The Jigger Inn – it’s right by the 17th hole and has a wonderful golf-centric decor.

The Jigger Inn is indeed a classic! I love how it’s always buzzing with golfers after a round. Definitely the place to share your best or worst golfing moments!

[quote=“danielleriddle, post:3, topic:7482”]The Jigger Inn is indeed a classic!..[quote] As for other spots, I hear The Dunvegan is popular too, especially among golfers. It has some interesting golf art and loads of regulars who play at St Andrews.

I’ve enjoyed drinks at The Dunvegan! Their menu is great, and the golf theme really resonates. It’s a perfect setting for discussing game strategies!

The Dunvegan does sound appealing. Can anyone highlight any specific memorabilia they have on display?

The Dunvegan has some old clubs and signed pictures of legends like Nicklaus and Watson. It’s pretty cool to see that stuff up close!

That’s awesome! A place with history adds to the golf experience. How’s the crowd there compared to other pubs?

I hear The Criterion is another good spot. Anyone have experience there, or is it mainly for locals?

The Criterion is a nice pub too, and you’ll find a mix of locals and visiting golfers. It’s more laid back, but the golf chats are just as lively!

If you’re looking for a great place to unwind, I highly recommend The Jigger Inn. It has a fantastic ambiance, and you get a lovely view of the 17th hole of the Old Course. Their seafood is also top-notch!

I second that! The Jigger Inn is always buzzing after a round, and their whisky selection is quite extensive. Perfect for golfers needing to relax!

The Rule, right in the heart of St Andrews, is also a solid option. It’s a bit smaller but has a cozy atmosphere and great comfort food. Just what you need after a day on the greens!

Totally agree! The Rule has fantastic burgers and the local brews are a must-try. Feels just right after golfing.

If you’re in the mood for something lively, check out the St Andrews Brewing Company. It’s a little off the beaten path but they have a fantastic beer range and great pizza!

That sounds awesome! I love a good craft beer after a round, especially if there’s pizza involved!

Don’t forget to check out The Central - it’s got a relaxed vibe and comfy seating. Great for a post-game discussion! The fish and chips there are legendary too.

Yes, the seating is great! Plus, they always have the sports on, which adds to the fun atmosphere. Perfect for golfers!

I wonder if anyone has tried the food at The Red Lion? I’ve heard mixed reviews! Can anyone shed light on this?
