I’m on the lookout for some of the best public golf courses in New Jersey and would really appreciate your insights! Whether you’ve played a hidden gem or a well-known favorite, I’d love to hear your recommendations.
Here are a few things I’m particularly interested in:
Course layout and difficulty: What’s the course like? Are there any challenging holes to look out for?
Conditions: How are the greens and fairways? Do you think they’re well-maintained?
Facilities: Do the courses offer practice ranges or pro shops worth checking out?
Best times to play: Any tips on when to visit for the best experience?
I’m trying to plan a few outings this summer, and I want to ensure I’m hitting some quality courses! Any feedback or experiences you share would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in advance!
I’ve played at public courses all over Jersey, and I highly recommend the Pine Hill Golf Club. The course is well-maintained, and the staff is friendly. Plus, their greens are some of the best I’ve encountered!
That course is definitely a gem! I also really enjoyed playing at Mercer Oaks. They have two great layouts, and the scenery is just wonderful, especially in the fall!
You can’t go wrong with either Pine Hill or Mercer Oaks! I’d also throw in Neshanic Valley; it’s got a more rugged feel and the conditions are solid. Has anyone played there recently?
Neshanic Valley is amazing! The views are breathtaking. I did have a rough round because the wind was brutal that day, but it made for a fun challenge. What’s the best time of year to play there?
Autumn is perfection at Neshanic Valley! The foliage really enhances the experience. Plus, the course is less crowded, which is a bonus. Have you tried their restaurant yet? The burgers are fantastic!
Bayonne Golf Club is wonderful, though I feel the price can be a deterrent for many. Does anyone have tips for getting discounts there? I’d love to try it without breaking the bank.
You might find some deals on bookyourgolf.com! Also, signing up for their newsletter can sometimes get you special rates. But honestly, I think it’s worth the splurge at least once.
Rancocas is great for beginners too! I went with a few friends who were new to golf, and we all had a blast. Friendly vibes and nice folks. But… what’s the deal with the pace of play there? Anyone?
Definitely a mixed bag on pace at Rancocas, but overall, it’s not too bad. Just be prepared for some wait times on weekends. Also, if you’re ever in the area, check out Quail Brook. It’s such a fun course with a laid-back atmosphere.
I think it’s about balance. You don’t always have to pay a premium for good golf. Sometimes the less expensive courses provide a more relaxed experience!
